Today, I finally got out to do a hike. It's been a while since I did one, so we tried to do an easy hike to get my land legs back. My father picked out a place called Lookout Point ~15 miles away. It should be pointed out that I'm not exactly in shape since I don't do much, so some of expected/comical things happened.
Started when we were actually trying to find the small trail. I didn't realize that we were trying to find a place called "Lookout Road" to walk on, so we had an extra half mile to the walk because we were too busy swatting gnats out of our faces to see we missed our spot. Once we started going up the hill, some thunder sounded in the distance, but we kept going on. Myself, I was quite in agony over this and stopped on numerous occasions to try and ease up on my tiredness. It ended with me puking on the side of the trail not far from the peak of the hill. Even before that happened, I wanted to turn back because my legs were sore, but my father kept telling me to go on and I had to hang on to his arm at a couple points just to encourage myself to keep walking. There was a screaming noise when we got near the top as well, but my father explained that the noise came from when trees were too close together and rubbed against each other. When we got near the lookout point (thus the name), I saw a tree branch rubbing against a tree trunk that made a similar noise, but it wasn't nearly the same. Perhaps different trees make different noises or something, I dunno.
Eventually, we made it to where we wanted to be, I got to rest as some light rain came down on us from the storm overhead. It lasted like 5 minutes and no lightning came near us. So, in the end, I puked and my legs are still sore as hell from the walk hours ago, and I'm still wondering whether or not those 4 miles were worth it. At least the view was nice.
